Julian Edelman ‘Worried About’ Patriots Going Into 2022 Season

Julian Edelman may be out of the New England Patriots, but he sure supports his team heading into the 2022 NFL season. The former Patriots wideout called it career, leaving the Patriots with a big void on their roster. Head coach Bill Belichick lost one of the most valuable players on this roster. Losing Edelman was a big blow for the franchise. Edelman is here to give him an advice or something like that. It’s not like Belichick needs an advice. It’s just Edelman speaking his mind about the Patriots and their chances to make the big game in the upcoming season.

Belichick didn’t make too many moves in the offseason. He traded for DeVante Parker and selected a handful of players who are expected to perform at a high level and fill the holes on the current roster. New England doesn’t have too much money right now, but Belichick is happy with the way his team looks at the moment.

What about Edelman?

Mac Jones will have a big role in the upcoming season. He has great talent and his performance led the Patriots to a seven-game winning streak. Belichick signed a few valuable weapons and there’s little to no room for panic. However, Edelman has some concerns about the defense.

“They weren’t tossing the ball out after the stadium. It was a defensive-built team,” Edelman said on the I Am Athlete podcast. “That’s the thing that I’m worried about with the Patriots. Is their defense gonna be there to allow Mac to have this slow progression into becoming what he becomes?”

J.C. Jackson left the Patriots in free agency and this is probably the biggest problem Belichick deals with right now. Dont’a Hightower and Kyle Van Noy are also out. Malcolm Butler joined the Patriots after the infamous benching and he will get some help from Jonathan Jones. In other words, it seems like Belichick has a solution to each and every problem his organization deals with right now. Let’s see what happens in the upcoming season. It’s too soon to make a prediction.
