LeBron James Urged To Switch Lakers With Eastern Conference Contender

Will LeBron James finish his career where it all started? The four-time NBA champion hasn’t said anything that leads to a retirement decision, but fans and analysts can’t stop talking about it. We have people saying that LeBron will leave the Lakers after the 2023-24 season, while others believe he will play a few more seasons with the team. Get ready for the most shocking scenario revolving around the king of basketball. LeBron has been advised to join an Eastern Conference contender and finish his NBA career with the same team that selected him two decades ago.

LeBron signed a two-year contract extension with the Lakers in 2022. He has a player option next offseason and may become a free agent in 2024. LeBron wants to play with Bronny and if the Lakers don’t get his oldest son, he will definitely go somewhere else.

LeBron started his career in the Eastern Conference

Where would he go? He likes the Lakers and his business is in LA. However, Greg Swartz from Bleacher Report wants LeBron to opt out of his deal and join the Cleveland Cavaliers. He has one championship with the team and it would be nice to get another ring as a Cavalier.

“The Cavs just won 51 games and were the No. 1 defensive team in the NBA with a core four that averages 23.8 years in age,” Swartz wrote on June 16, 2023. “All that’s missing? An upgrade at small forward, one who can generate some offense after they looked stuck in the mud during their first-round meeting with the New York Knicks.

“A starting five of Garland, Mitchell, James, Mobley and Allen would be the best in the East, if not the entire NBA. With the Boston Celtics taking a step back this season, the Philadelphia 76ers possibly losing James Harden to free agency and the Milwaukee Bucks’ core growing older, the Cavaliers would quickly take over the conference once again by adding a talent like James to an already impressive young roster.”

It’s a tricky scenario and LeBron has already talked about it. Moving to Cleveland was a big topic last season and many fans thought that LeBron would go back home. People followed every move he and Savannah made, and yes, the Akron scenario was a big deal. LeBron added fuel to the fire and said the door for a potential return to Cleveland is still open.

“The door’s not closed on that,” LeBron told The Athletic’s Jason Lloyd in February, 2022. “I’m not saying I’m coming back and playing, I don’t know. I don’t know what my future holds. I don’t even know when I’m free.”
