Patriots Sign Pro Bowl Playmaker In Proposed Trade

The New England Patriots need a fresh boost this season. Head coach Bill Belichick will probably add a few more players in order to improve his current squad. The Patriots need a strong player like DeAndre Hopkins, but they can always trade for a talented playmaker.

According to Maurice Moton from Bleacher Report, the Patriots can trade for Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton for a second-round pick. Sutton is an excellent player and he made the Pro Bowl in 2019.

“If the Patriots strike out with Hopkins, who’s a big-bodied 6-foot-1, 211-pounder, they can turn their focus to Sutton, who’s also a big pass-catching target at 6-foot-4, 216 pounds,” Moton wrote. “New England may be aggressive in search of a veteran wideout. In the AFC East, the Patriots need to keep pace with two rivals that made the playoffs last season and the Aaron Rodgers-led New York Jets.”

Hopkins visited the Patriots on June 15 right after visiting the Tennessee Titans. He likes the organization and its management despite the fact that the Patriots don’t have a star signal-caller.

The Patriots will have to make a decision in the near future. JuJu Smith-Schuster deals with a knee injury which can impact his performance on the field.

Patriots will have to pay a lot to trade for the talented playmaker

The Patriots will face a huge obstacle in their way. Denver has a “steep price” for Sutton and Jerry Jeudy. The latter has a $15 million deal while Sutton inked a four-year deal worth $60.8 million. According to Mike Klis from 9News, Denver wants to get a second-rounder for Sutton. Jeudy will give them a first-round pick. Dan Graziano from ESPN made similar comments in April. Denver really plans to get top picks for its top receivers.

“Teams are watching to see whether Denver drops its demands for those guys, but as of now neither seems likely to get moved,” Graziano wrote.

Denver head coach Sean Payton said that the team won’t trade “those two players.” Nick Kosmider from The Athletic claims that the Broncos can still trade Sutton or Jeudy.

“Assuming the Broncos stand pat on the compensation for Jeudy and Sutton but remain open to offers, the latter seems like a more realistic trade option because a second-round pick isn’t much for a receiver-needy team in win-now mode,” Moton wrote.
