Lakers’ Talent Austin Reaves Draws Comparison to Super Bowl Quarterback

Austin Reaves has attracted the attention of the NBA world, and many have compared him to a NFL quarterback. Reaves has an army of fans supporting his legacy. Even Skip Bayless likes him!

The undrafted free agent became a top player in the NBA and his first season in the NBA was more than successful. Bayless spoke his mind on Reaves and his performance on the basketball court.

“He makes the team, and then he starts to play more and more,” said the Fox Sports 1 personality on “Undisputed” on August 31. “That first year, he shoots 32% from three, and last year he shot 40% from three. It’s Jalen hurts-like where, all of a sudden, you transform yourself at the highest level into a very accurate passer.”

The Philadelphia Eagles picked Hurts in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. His performance improved in his first season and Reaves followed the same pattern. Fun fact? Hurt completed 66.5% of his passes and led his team to the big game. Hopefully, Reaves will follow the same pattern.

Bayless compared Reaves to the quarterback, didn’t see him make the NBA

It is interesting to note that Bayless first thought that Reaves will go undrafted. It was a bold prediction. Well, we have people saying that Reaves will be an All-Star sooner than expected.

“I’ve never seen anything like the Austin Reaves from college and what he turned into in pro basketball,” Bayless said. “It’s like Brock Purdy for the 49ers where I watched him a lot at Iowa State and I saw none of this that I saw last year in San Francisco.”

Reaves averaged 13.0 points, 3.4 assists, and 3.0 rebounds while going 39.8% from beyond the arc last season. He averaged 21.6 points in the postseason… The man knows how to improve his performance!

Enter LeBron James. Bayless’ “favorite” player.

LeBron [James] loves this kid because he knows how to play basketball,” Bayless said. “He almost always makes the correct play. And LeBron, who has the highest IQ still in all of basketball feeds off that because he can trust it.”
