Austin Reaves Reveals True Feelings About Lakers’ Preseason Plan

Austin Reaves and the Los Angeles Lakers will enter the preseason with a great plan on the table. The Lakers were close to making the NBA Finals last season. They didn’t make it, but players are ready to make the big game this time. The front office made some much needed changes and it is all good now.

The Lakers liked Reaves’ potential and gave him a four-year deal in the offseason. It was an expected outcome because Reaves worked really hard to get here. It is interesting to note that Reaves didn’t see any action in training camp. However, he joined his team on Day 2.

“Hey, it wasn’t my …,” Reaves said. “I don’t know. Anytime I’m in the gym, I want to play, so I was sitting over there trying my best to stay the course.”

Mike Trudell from Spectrum Sportsnet reported that Reaves will miss the preseason opener.

In the 2022-23 NBA season, Reaves started 22 of 64 games. He played 1,843 minutes and was also third in minutes in Team USA in the World Cup. Yes, Reaves should get some rest and will probably miss some games. The front office has done this before.

“I’m ready to get back to work now, but there’s some stuff we got to build up to,” Reaves added. “But we’ll build up to that, and whatever they decide to do playing-wise in the preseason is what I’ll do.”

Reaves build an army of fans last season. He did his best to lead his team to a win and the NBA world has high expectations from him.

Reaves is not the only Lakers player to miss the preseason opener

Four-time NBA champion LeBron James won’t suit up for the first game of the preseason. The Lakers have done this before. They will also be more careful about LeBron’s playing time. Yes, the NBA has some rules, but LeBron can take his time off as he will be turn in December.
