Bill Belichick Offers Evasive Answers On Mac Jones Despite Comeback Win

The New England Patriots beat the Buffalo Bills in Week 7 despite all odds. Yes, Josh Allen’s injury made things easier for the Patriots, but let’s just say they all managed to find an efficient way to defeat the Bills. Mac Jones helped the team win the game, but head coach Bill Belichick didn’t really pour praise over him.

The struggling quarterback led a game-winning drive to defeat the Bills. He launched a touchdown pass to tight end Mike Gesicki and New England celebrated a 29-25 win. Beating their rivals is always a good idea and players have a really good reason to celebrate.

Head coach Belichick was answering questions about the game and obviously, most of the questions were related to Jones. One of the reporters asked him if Jones’ heroics give higher confidence in the starting quarterback. Belichick said, “I don’t know.” It wasn’t good enough and reporters wanted a response. Does he have greater confidence in the Alabama quarterback? “I have confidence in all our players,” Belichick simply said.

Jones tried really hard to help the Patriots win the Week 7 contest. He went 11 of 13 and had a “147.0 passer rating” in the fourth period. Well, Belichick wanted more. He always wants more.

Ben Volin from The Boston Globe detailed that Jones was finally able to have a “first career win when the opponent scores at least 25 points.” It was a good game for the quarterback and he may be the best option for the QB1 psition.

Belichick wants Jones to win more games with the Patriots

Instead of praising Jones, Gesicki, and Kendrick Bourne for the great game, Belichick took his time to praise Bill O’Brien.

Belichick used a first-round pick to get Jones, but he may be a little disappointed. Robert Griffin claims that poor scheme design and staffing decisions made by Belichick put Jones in a terrible position.

Greg A. Bedard from The Boston Sports Journal also believes that the situation between Belichick and Jones is bad.

“I think the Belichick Mac Jones marriage is broken. And that’s tough. I mean for the franchise quarterback not to think that the head coach is in his corner….”
