Lakers’ Anthony Davis Blasted By Stephen A. Smith After ‘Atrocious’ 2nd Half Vs. Nuggets

The Los Angeles Lakers were hyped to beat the Denver Nuggets in the season opener, but finished the game with a 119-107 loss. It wasn’t the best game for the team and Stephen A. Smith criticized Anthony Davis. Yes, LeBron James is his favorite target, but AD stole the show this time.

Smith destroyed Davis on ESPN’s First Take and he was really disappointed by his performance in the second half of the game. Smith is concerned about Davis’ game, and called his performance “atrocious.” He didn’t stop here. According to Smith, the Lakers won’t win a title this season as well. He claims that this particular game is the best prediction for the rest of the season. There’s more. Smith says Davis embarrassed himself in the loss vs Denver.

“Atrocious. Very concerning,” Smith said of Davis’ performance. “Ladies and gentlemen: You just saw the reason why the Los Angeles Lakers ain’t going to win no championship this year… I’m so ticked off at Anthony Davis right now. It’s an embarrassment what happened with him yesterday.”

Davis delivered 17 points, eight rebounds, and four assists in the game. He went 6-17 from the field and finished the night with a plus-minus of -17. As if this wasn’t enough, the Lakers big man scored 0 points in the second half of the game.

Davis could have been more successful in the loss to the Nuggets

AD talked to the media following the game and did admit that he missed some easy layups around the rim.

“(Denver) started double-teaming,” Davis said. “They were trying to crowd the paint. I missed some easy layups around the rim, little jumpers. Just trying to make the right play, kick it out to our guys … But, just gotta shoot it more.”

LeBron James had a much better performance in the night. He was happy with his game on the basketball court despite the limited minutes in the game. He is a true leader of the purple and gold, but he also needs a hand from the team. AD made a few mistakes and he has to fix the damage if he wants to be a leader on the court.
