Lakers Coach Compares Anthony Davis To Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo

LeBron James and Anthony Davis will try to take the Los Angeles Lakers to the NBA Finals this season. They almost made the big game last season, but things didn’t go the way they planned. LeBron is hyped to win as usual and Davis has special plan for the upcoming season. Lakers head coach turned heads with the comments he made on Davis, suggesting that he is similar to Giannis Antetokounmpo.

“S—, who knows,” Davis described himself on October 6. “I’m still trying to figure it out. I am a ‘big man.’ There you go … I am a big that plays basketball.”

Davis measures at 6’10’’ and spends his entire playing time as the 5. Ham trusts his superstar and has high expectations from him.

“I view him as a hell of a basketball player — in the same way I viewed Giannis [Antetokounmpo] when I was in Milwaukee,” Ham said. “AD, he is of that ilk.”

Ham had an opportunity to work with Davis and is well aware of his power.

“You just put him out there and he’s going to figure it out,” the Lakers head coach added. “He has the physical tools and skills to do whatever he wants to do on the basketball court.”

Davis and Antetokounmpo will take big responsibility in the 2023-24 NBA season

AD joined the Lakers to win a title and he has already won one with the team. Now is the perfect time to add another ring to his portfolio.

“It’s about hanging championships,” he said. “I mean, if I do what I’m supposed to do — of course, I feel like I got cheated out of a couple defensive awards — but if I do what I’m supposed to do, play how I’m supposed to play, that stuff will come. … For me, it’s how many rings I can get before it’s all said and done.”

The Lakers will push Davis back to a power forward. It will be a bit challenging, but it will work like magic.

“I was confused a lot,” Davis said per Turner. “It’s still figuring things out. Talking with the coaches and Jaxson and C-Wood about some things that I did with DeMarcus [Cousins] and Julius [Randle] back in New Orleans. … It feels good to stay out of 100 pick and rolls a game. So, I still got a lot to learn from it. I still got a lot to explore.”
