Patriots Advised To Seek ‘Reunion’ With Ex-Quarterback

The New England Patriots lost Tom Brady a few seasons ago and head coach Bill Belichick has been trying to find a suitable replacement for him. They had Cam Newton and Brian Hoyer, but also decided to select Mac Jones. He looked like a good pick and had a successful first season with the team. This changed in year 2 and Jones struggled to show his true potential. The same happened in year 3. Jones struggles to perform and the team has been advised to move on with another quarterback alternative. Will the Patriots opt for a reunion with a former Pats quartebrack?

NFL analysts claim that Jones is not the franchise quarterback for the Patriots. Bailey Zappe replaced him in the regular season on a few occasions. Josh McDaniels and Belichick may trust his potential, but NFL analysts are not that convinced in his skills.

Patriots to agree with reunion with their former quarterback option

Bleacher Report has a plan for the Patriots. They advise the head coach to re-sign Jacoby Brissett. He knows the system and is set to enter the open market next offseason. The Patriots could benefit from this reunion.

Brissett started off his NFL career as a Patriots quarterback. The team used a third-round selection to get him. He started two regular season games and had a 1-1 record in these games. New England decided to move on from him as Belichick wanted wide receiver Phillip Dorsett. It’s not like Brissett had a chance to perform with the Patriots beyond his rookie campaign. He had to go somewhere else.

“Jacoby Brissett remains one of the best backup quarterbacks in the league. Sam Howell has played well enough to stave him off in Washington, but he played well as the starter for the Browns last season until Deshaun Watson made his debut. The Patriots originally drafted Brissett in 2016. A reunion may be in order.”

Brissett will turn 31 in December. He knows the system and performed well as a backup quarterback in New England.

New England has Jones as a starting quarterback, but Belichick needs a stronger backup. NFL analysts are not really convinced that Zappe is the best option.
