Patriots Sign Speedy Former 1st-Round Pick To 53-Man Roster

The New England Patriots entered the season with a loss and have lost five games so far. They had to make some changes and yes, they really needed speedy players. Wide receiver Jalen Reagor earned a spot on the Patriots 53-man roster and he will definitely help the Patriots get some speed. He spent the entire season on the practice squad and now is the perfect time for a change.

The talented wide receiver ran a 4.47-second 40-yard dash time ahead of the 2020 NFL Draft. He made the top 15 that season and head coach Bill Belichick saw great potential in him. Reagor is also an excellent playmaker and makes a good fit for the Patriots. According to the NFL.com draft, Reagor is a “smooth athlete with blazing speed who has more playmaking talent than receiver skill and play-callers need to account for that when determining how to utilize him. He’s electric with the ball in his hands.”

Patriots adjust roster

The Patriots elevated Reagor to the 53-man roster as one of the many efforts to boost the offense. Tyquan Thornton feels great again and his shoulder is fine, so he is expected to assume his role with the team. Pop Douglas is also seeing some action.

Thornton ran a 4.28-second 40 prior joining the NFL and Douglas ran a 4.44 last season.

The Philadelphia Eagles selected Reagor in the first round and used the 21st overall pick on him. He delivered 1,067 yards in 13 games in his sophomore season. He tore a ligament in his thumb in his debut season with the Eagles and missed five games. Things didn’t change in year two.

The Eagles traded Reagor to Minnesota in 2022. It didn’t go well either. Paul Allen’s call made people ask questions.

“Jalen Reagor muffed it where he should have called fair catch, and the Vikings held onto it. That’s so freaking unacceptable, that’s unbelievable he just did that,”
