Lakers Owner Jeanie Buss Posed For Playboy Magazine In 1995

Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss is doing an excellent job as top person in the franchise. She signed the best basketball player of all time and brought numerous great players to Los Angeles. However, fans remember one tiny detail of the owner’s past. Do you know that Buss once posed for Playboy magazine?

In her interview with “In Depth with Graham Bensinger”, the Lakers owner shared some spicy details of this photo session. Believe it or not, fans still talk about it.

“I spoke to Jimmy Connors’ wife Patti McGuire – she was Playmate of the Year in I think 1976 or ’77 – and I asked her about the experience before I ever pursued it,” Buss said. “And she said, ‘It’s a great experience, but always be prepared wherever you are, somebody’s gonna approach you with the magazine to sign it… when you least expect it. The pictures never go away.’

“And so now this is the early ’90s, really before the internet takes off. And so, it never dawned on me that these pictures would have a life of their own on the internet and will always be out there. And when you pose, you accept that’s part of the program. Except the internet has made it that I literally, probably, receive five to 10 requests a week where people have printed the pictures and asked me to sign them. And they send a postage paid envelope for me to send it back.”

Buss still deals with the Playboy story

Coping with all this may be a big challenge for Buss, but she still signs pictures. Wonder why? She is not ashamed of this photo session. Moreover, she doesn’t even regret it. One thing stands for sure. It’s a matter of the past and Buss found a way to live with it.

“I always sign them because I don’t regret taking the pictures. It’s a little bit like, ‘Wow, it really doesn’t ever go away.’ But, the idea that the pictures are kind of legendary.”
