Mac Jones Gave Worrying Answers About Patriots’ Offense & Wide Receivers

The New England Patriots struggle on both sides of the field and have a 2-7 record at this point. Quarterback Mac Jones found himself in hot water again and many place the blame on the Patriots quarterback. Well, Jones places the blame on Patriots receivers. He seems to be really unhappy with the offense.

Reporters asked Jones why other signal-callers “seem to have more open receivers to throw to either because of scheme or good WRs” and he just said that it was a really good point.

Chad Graff from The Athletic tried to interpret the answers Jones provided. We could all agree that he also showed some indecision and diplomacy.

“He was also asked if it’s difficult to remain confident in this offensive system and admitted, ‘It’s tough,’ as part of an answer that reiterated he needs to remain confident in himself.”

Jones and his teammates have to try better in order to save the season if there is anything left to be saved. “The quarterback is making clear in his own way that he’s not fond of the current setup around him, be it because of the offensive coordinator or wide receivers or both,” Graff added.

Jones needed stronger receivers

Jones is not happy and he is not even hiding it. He wasn’t too happy in his second year with the Patriots as well. He didn’t click with Matt Patricia during his time as Patriots offensive coordinator either. Jones often expressed his concerns about Patricia’s offensive scheme.

The Patriots hired Bill O’Brien as the next offensive coordinator. They also brought JuJu Smith-Schuster to New England. He wasn’t of great help for the team and dropping the ball in the 20-17 loss to Washington Commanders was the last thing he should have done as a newly-signed player.

We could all agree that Jakobi Meyers would have been a stronger option for Jones. Well, the Patriots let him go and his departure left a big hole on their roster. Kendrick Bourne will miss the rest of the season due to a torn ACL. DeVante Parker suffered a concussion.

Josh McDaniels was able to lead Jones in the right direction. Is he the only person to fix this problem?
