Patriots Make Quarterback Decision, But Don’t Name Their Week 12 Starter

The New England Patriots may have not confirmed their starting quarterback for the upcoming game against the New York Giants, but they sure made a QB move. No one is coming to New England. The Patriots have actually released one of their quarterbacks.

Will Grier will no longer be part of the Patriots and Adam Schefter from ESPN was the first to confirm it. This was a really surprising move because Bill Belichick liked Grier and his potential.

Grier joined the NFL in 2018. The Carolina Panthers selected him in the third round of the draft. He saw action in two games with the team and Carolina let him go in August 2021. Grier made a few stops in the NFL, spending time with the Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals. He was on their practice squads and the Patriots got him on September 22. Belichick didn’t give him a chance to play a regular season game and Grier was a third-string quarterback for the Patriots.

Patriots have yet to confirm their starting quarterback

New England has a terrible record at this point of the season. Players struggle on both ends of the ball. Keeping Grier around didn’t make much sense for the team.

Mac Jones was starter for the Patriots so far. However, Belichick benched him for Bailey Zappe in most of the games. There’s growing speculation about the quarterback situation in New England, but Belichick has yet to confirm his starter for Week 12. Will Jones start games? Will Zappe steal his job? Both quarterbacks are willing to accept the challenge. Belichick actually told them to be ready for the game. Maybe he will use both of them in the upcoming game. This makes sense on so many levels. New England has slim chances to improve the record and Belichick may use the remainder of the season to select the best QB option for his team.

Playing against the Giants comes with a great challenge. Will this be another loss for the Patriots?
