Why LeBron James Chose Lakers Over New York Knicks

The Los Angeles Lakers were lucky to get LeBron James in 2018, because the New York Knicks wanted him, too. Oh, let’s just say may other teams wanted to sign the greatest basketball player of all time. LeBron entered the open market after leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers for the second time in his career. Why did he choose the Lakers? Were they lucky or was there something else?

The Knicks tried to get LeBron and the Cavaliers wanted to give him another deal. It is interesting to note that the Philadelphia 76ers also tried to get LeBron. It was a wild offseason for the king of basketball and he decided to sign a four-year deal with the Lakers.

LeBron had a reason to sign with the Lakers instead of joining the Knicks

LeBron is a Klutch Sports client and Rich Paul is his agent. He decided to share some details of LeBron’s decision to join the purple and gold in his appearance on Club Shay Shay.

“Well, the conversation of leaving Cleveland and going to Los Angeles, and I talked about this before,” Paul told Shannon Sharpe. “The conversation was pretty simple in terms of what do you want to do. If you want to stay here, lets stay here. But if you want to go somewhere else, your brand is here. You only got so many options.

“We wasn’t going to New York even though New York was an option. But he already had a place in Los Angeles and I had the opportunity of spending a year here because I had of KCP (Kentavious Caldwell-Pope) here and got to get a better understanding of the organization. Magic (Johnson) and I talked a lot, I knew Rob (Pelinka), and his family wanted to be in Los Angeles.”

LeBron moved his business to LA and this seemed like a really good decision. He won one ring as a Laker and delivers a MVP performance each night. LeBron is the ultimate leader for the purple and gold and he will probably stay around for a while.
