Patriots General Manager Candidate Rejects Interview With Robert Kraft’s Team

The New England Patriots parted ways with Bill Belichick. He was their head coach and also the team’s de facto general manager. The Patriots organization hired Jerod Mayo as the next head coach and they are also looking for a general manager. Cincinnati Bengals senior personnel executive Trey Brown is one of their targets, but it looks like he shows no interest in the job.

Tom Pelissero from NFL Media reported that Brown turned down the Patriots’ request for an interview. The 39-year-old will enter the new season with the Bengals as doesn’t seem to be thinking of going somewhere else.

Eliot Wolf is the Patriots de facto general manager. He stepped in as a replacement for Belichick after the legendary head coach left the organization. It was a big challenge, but Wolf is doing an incredible job.

Patriots have to find a general manager willing to take a risk

Brown had a chance to join a strong organization open for changes, but turned it down. Some candidates may be too scared to join a rebuilding team. The Patriots have to start it all over again. They finished the 2023 NFL season with a 4-13 record and it was another frustrating season for the team.

The new-look Patriots team embraced a great number of changes. Mayo will be working with a group of young players and experienced veterans. The Patriots coaching staff will look different, too. Mayo contacted some of the former Patriots players to join his coaching staff. It’s an open invitation for everyone, including Tom Brady and Devin McCourty.

Players are excited to play on the new team and being coached by Mayo seems to be a great deal. Mayo will try his best to lead the team to the playoffs. Making the Super Bowl won’t be easy, but Mayo has a plan.
