Andy Reid Explains Showing Mercy To HC Bill Belichick, Patriots

The New England Patriots are out of the playoff race again and head coach Bill Belichick is on the hot seat again. The entire NFL world speculated about his potential firing, but Belichick is not is not in the mood of discussing the topic. Andy Reid and his Kansas City Chiefs served Belichick with another loss, but they have nothing but respect for the legendary head coach.

It was uncomfortable 27-17 loss for the Patriots, but they don’t have anything to lose at this point. It would have been much worse and the Chiefs decided to take a step back in the final play of the night. Reid didn’t want his team to score more points. “It was the right thing to do,” the Chiefs head coach said.

Reid respects Belichick and his legacy

Reid didn’t want to put Belichick in an uncomfortable position. New England has a 3-11 record at this point and Belichick is slowly approaching the end of the worst season in his career. The NFL world is not that kind to him. Everyone wants to know more about his future plans and yes, most of the questions he gets during press conferences are related to his future with the Patriots.

The Patriots gave Belichick a new deal over the summer. This didn’t secure his future with the team, but it did turn him into a tradeable asset. If Robert Kraft decides to fire him, the Patriots will get great players/picks in return. Belichick is the best head coach in league history and he could still win titles.

Recent reports suggest that the Patriots will part ways with Belichick after the end of the regular season. According to some, the Kraft family made this decision following the loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Germany. The organization hasn’t released a statement and neither has Belichick.

It’s a tricky situation for the team and the Patriots dynasty is defeated right now. They needs more time to get back on their feet.
