Lakers’ Austin Reaves Gets Honest On What He’s Learned From LeBron James

The Los Angeles Lakers found a true gem in Austin Reaves and he emerged as one of the better players on the roster. Reaves has an army of fans in Los Angeles and yes, even LeBron James praised his great effort.

Reaves made great highlights this season. He looks like someone who can stay with the Lakers for a really long time. NBA analysts have mentioned him as potential trade candidate, but the Lakers are loud and clear. Reaves is not going anywhere. He is a valuable player and the team needs him.

LeBron set up a great example for Reaves

Reaves has the opportunity to play alongside the best basketball player of all time. This increases his competitiveness and also motivates him to be better every night.

JJ Redick from The Old Man and the Three asked Reaves about the impact LeBron made on his game. The young Laker is more than impressed by LeBron’s longevity and all the things he does to keep his body sharp and strong.

“The main one is obviously just being a pro,” Reaves said. “First in the gym, last to leave, his body of work—literally, on his body—not many people can play this long. Honestly, nobody’s done it at this high a level. He basically lays out the blueprint for you, you just gotta pay attention and apply that to yourself.”

LeBron is the perfect role model for young players. He entered the NBA as a young star and the sky was his limit. Reaves follows his example and even asks him questions.

“I was just like, ‘So, your day is treatment?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah, pretty much.’ I was like, ‘Alright, cool.’ There’s the blueprint,” Reaves mentioned a recent conversation with the four-time NBA champion. “He’s a professional and takes care of himself. Where I come from I never had a basketball trainer, I never had a trainer, never had anything. I did everything myself, and I didn’t know how important recovery was. Like nobody ever taught me that stuff; like all this stuff was kinda new for me. Anything that he says that he does, s***, why not try it?”
