Insider Shares Lakers Target Bruce Brown Trade Cost

The Los Angeles Lakers are looking for ways to improve their roster. Bruce Brown has been mentioned as a trade target for the Lakers, but this move will come with a specific price. It won’t be easy for Rob Pelinka to acquire the talented player.

Marc Stein reported that the Toronto Raptors won’t give up on Brown for nothing.

“The Raptors’ asking price for teams interested in acquiring Bruce Brown has been described as a future first-round pick and a quality player … at a minimum,” Stein wrote on January 21.

“Toronto knows that a variety of contending teams are interested in Brown, noting his contributions to Denver’s title run last season, making the Raptors hopeful they can spark some robust bidding for a player with both championship pedigree and a team-friendly contract.”

If the Lakers agree to a trade, they can use the 2029 or 2030 pick as this is the only option available. This will change in June and the front office may have three first-round picks to use.

Brown has attracted the attention of many teams in the NBA. The New York Knicks want him, too, and they can offer a bunch of assets. They have eight tradable first-rounders and it is interesting to note that Brown would love to sign a deal with the team as well.

Lakers have a cheaper option if the Bruce Brown trade fails

If the Brown trade doesn’t work, the Lakers can opt for Royce O’Neale from the Brooklyn Nets. Dan Woike from the Los Angeles Times reported on this scenario. The Nets were interested in trading him, but only if their trade partner offers a first-round selection. O’Neale will become unrestricted free agent in the summer and the Lakers won’t have to pay that much to get him.

The Lakers couldn’t beat the Lakers on January 19, but O’Neal didn’t score in his 18 minutes off the bench. When it comes to season stats, O’Neale shoots 36% from deep. Is he a good option for the purple and gold?
