Lakers ‘Optimistic’ Offseason Target A 6-Time All-Star Player

The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t make any major moves at the trade deadline, but they are definitely expected to have a loud offseason. The Lakers front office could make a move and get a few experienced players, including a six-time All-Star.

Rob Pelinka and the Lakers front office will have to play smart and use their offseason to boost the roster. Injuries and inefficiency could lead to signing a bunch of new names.

D’Angelo Russell tries to become the third player behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis. However, the Lakers may want to consider adding a new name. Is DeMa DeRozan a good option for the Lakers? Andy Bailey from Bleacher Report share his thoughts on a potential DeRozan signing. He has already been on the Lakers’ radar.

“If DeRozan is satisfied with all the money he’s earned to this point in his illustrious career, the opportunity to play for his hometown team for the modest taxpayer’s mid-level exception could be intriguing.

“And while he may not make a ton of sense for a starting five that already includes ball-dominance from LeBron James and a lack of shooting from Anthony Davis, he could be a dominant sixth man.”

DeRozan averages 23.2 points on 47.5% shooting and the Lakers can definitely use these numbers in the upcoming season.

Lakers could go after the All-Star in the offseason

Getting DeRozan or any other star player available on the market makes perfect sense for the Lakers. They were quiet around the trade deadline, but they can definitely go big in the offseason. NBA analysts agree on this one. The Lakers will sign a star in the summer, per Sam Amick, Anthony Slater, and Jovan Buha from The Athletic.

“The Lakers plan to continue their quest for a third star this summer, armed with as many as three first-round picks, four pick swaps and multiple second-round picks to make a compelling offer for any available star. According to team sources, the organization has discussed three names internally: Trae Young, Donovan Mitchell and Irving.”
