LeBron James worked with many coaches in his long NBA career and Darvin Ham is the last on this list. The Los Angeles Lakers had Frank Vogel coach LeBron early in his stint with the team. The front office fired him and brought Ham at the sideline. Was this a good move?

The Lakers didn’t have much success in the last few seasons. Their greatest success was making the Western Conference Finals last season. It was a good opportunity for LeBron and his teammates, but the Denver Nuggets destroyed Ham’s team. The Lakers have been winning games this season and they look good. However, there is a huge issue inside the locker room. Is LeBron having problems with his head coach?

The Lakers have a 33-29 record at this point of the season. They have a 9-3 record in February, but players have to work hard to secure their spot in the standings.

LeBron and Ham have to change tunes

Recent reports suggest that there’s a growing tension between LeBron and head coach Ham. Sources have shared some information on Lakers team huddles. It seems like the situation is really serious.

“{James} sits in the huddle and gets his rest/water, rolls his eyes as Ham speaks and waits for the huddle to break,” a source told Anthony Irwin of Lakers Daily. “If Ham ever does draw up a play, as soon as the huddle breaks, James will tell everyone else on the court with him ‘f— all that’ and calls a play of his own.”

If this is true, it is wrong on so many levels. This takes us to all stories suggesting that LeBron has the power to fire coaches. His issue with Ham is definitely affecting the franchise, but don’t really know if the Lakers are willing to part ways with the head coach.

Players have to establish strong connections with their head coaches. It looks like LeBron wasn’t the only one to have issues with the head coach. Lakers players didn’t like his lineup changes early in the regular season as well.

Irwin reported that the franchise will probably keep Ham on the roster if players manage to make the playoffs.
