Patriots Make Decision On Former Star Corner J.C. Jackson

The New England Patriots made great changes after the end of the 2023 NFL season. They parted ways with legendary head coach Bill Belichick and also released some of his favorite players. According to recent reports, the Patriots also made a decision on veteran cornerback J.C. Jackson after all the speculation surrounding his future with the team.

Sources confirm that the Patriots have released cornerback Jackson. The decision was made official Friday afternoon. Jackson will be able to enter the open market and try his chances with other teams. He is incredibly talented, but his personal issues have great impact on his career.

Jackson was a key player on the Patriots roster. He was part of the team from 2018 to 2021. NFL analysts would agree that Jackson is one of the better cornerbacks in the league. It’s interesting to note that Jackson has great success in his time with the Patriots. Something awkward happened in 2023, and Jackson had some issues with the management.

Jackson didn’t get the best of his stint with the Patriots

The veteran cornerback had the best performance in 2021. Jackson delivered 58 tackles, a forced fumble, eight interceptions, and 23 passes defended. This great performance was supposed to give him a great deal with the Los Angeles Chargers. However, they sent him back last October. Jackson’s second stint with the Patriots didn’t go well. There were great expectations from his return and Jackson did deliver 25 tackles and six passes defended in eight games with the team.

Truth is, the Patriots can afford losing Jackson at this point. This can also help them save up to $14 million against the cap.

Patriots de facto general manager Eliot Wolf said that the team was working on multiple options. It seems like they have made a decision.

The Patriots placed Jackson on the reserve/non-football illness list. His agent claimed that Jackson had mental issues which had a huge impact on his performance.
