Patriots Land Multitalented DB After Big Trade-Down
The New England Patriots have to make a few big moves in the offseason as they have to address several great needs. According to the latest mock draft, the Patriots land a multitalented DB.
Will Bill Belichick consider a trade-down? That would give him a lot of great options.
TRADE: No. 21 to Kansas City for Nos. 29, 94 and 135
Round 1, No. 29 overall: DB Dax Hill, Michigan
Hill is a speedy player and has excellent coverage skills. The Patriots could find great use for his talent and NFL analysts are seeing him as a great outside cornerback option. Belichick is entering the 2022 season without J.C. Jackson and he is definitely looking for someone like Hill.
Every year as I do my #NFLDraft prep, I find one player that jumps off the tape & becomes my favorite to watch… in the past it’s been guys like @DevinWhite__40 #JustinJefferson & @j_owuu so far this year that player is @daxhill5… always love seeing how it translates!

TRADE: Nos. 54 and 170 to Philadelphia for No. 51
Round 2, No. 51 overall: LB Leo Chenal, Wisconsin
Chenal has an excellent size as he measures at 6’3’’ and 250 pounds. He is an athletic LB who earned the third-highest defense grade PFF had in 2021.
Leo Chenal is a LB prospect in the 2022 draft class. He scored a 9.99 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 4 out of 2226 LB from 1987 to 2022. https://t.co/unnXwkeRtl #RAS pic.twitter.com/jvmaXucnGY

In 2021, he had 115 tackles and 18 ½ tackles for loss. Maybe the Patruots could fit him in the linebacker unit.
Round 3, No. 85 overall: OL Dylan Parham, Memphis
Parham isn’t really big, but has excellent athleticism. He tested 95th percentile for O-lineman in the 40-yard dash (4.93 seconds) and 79th percentile in the broad jump (108 inches). The Patriots may get a speedy and explosive player in him. Belichick has one major void at guard because they don’t have Ted Karras and Shaq Mason anymore.
#Memphis iOL Dylan Parham doesn’t get enough pub.

Love his knee bend, core strength, and balance in pass protection on tape. Showing the same thing during SB practice. pic.twitter.com/qDWIEIMzdw
Patriots land multitalented DB and few other players
Round 3, No. 94 overall: OT Max Mitchell, Louisiana
Mitchel measures at 6’6, 307 pounds. NFL tackles are big and Mitchel doesn’t belong to this group. He played at right tackle at college and allowed five sacks in 1,122 pass-blocking snaps from 2019 through 2021. PFF listed him as the highest-graded pass-blocking tackle as a senior. Analysts praised him toughness and excellent leadership skills.

Round 4, No. 127 overall: WR Kyle Philips, UCLA
Phillips is the traditional slot technician the Patriots need right now. Julian Edelman is gone, and Phillips makes a perfect replacement. The UCLA prospect ran a 6.75-second three-cone drill at his pro day and was compared to Hunter Renfrow. Yes, many would agree that he is a natural fit for New England.
Round 4, No. 135 overall: CB Zyon McCollum, Sam Houston State
McCollum measures at 6’2’’ and 199 pounds. As you may have noticed, he is one of the first four Patriots mock drafts the NESN created. He has great frame and amazing perspective. The perfect young corner for Belichick’s roster!
Later round picks makes sense too
Round 5, No. 158 overall: RB James Cook, Georgia
Cook is considered a game changer for any NFL team. He has great passing skills and excellent evasiveness. The PFF reported that he dropped just one pass in 68 targets at Georgia.

Round 6, No. 200 overall: EDGE Christopher Allen, Alabama
In 2020, Allen had six sacks and 13 tackles for loss. He sustained many injuries at college and even broke his foot. The player didn’t test at the combine and the pro day. According to several sources, he will work out at Alabama’s second pro day.
Round 6, No. 210 overall: ST Drew Hartlaub, Penn State
Hartlaub measures at 5’11 and 170 pounds. He ran 4.22-second 40 at his pro day, and also had a 6.75-second three-cone and 4.15-second short shuttle.
Mike Giardi reported that the Patriots scout met with Hartlaub at the workout.
He had 5 tackles as a gunner for Penn State. Hartlaub’s 20 yard shuttle was 4.15 and his 3 cone was 6.75. Those would have 2nd and 4th respectively had he been invited to the combine.
