Lakers’ Darvin Ham Listed Among ‘Coaches Most Likely To Be Fired’

Darvin Ham seemed like an ideal replacement for frank Vogel, but it looks like he will be fired, too. Ham has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons lately. Some claim there is a tension between him and Los Angeles Lakers players, while others suggest that players disagree with his gameplan.

Several NBA head coaches sit on the hot seat and Ham is one of them. Zach Buckley from Bleacher Report reported that Ham is one of five coaches who will leave their positions in the offseason. This could turn into a realistic scenario if the Lakers miss the big game again. They try their best to go up in Western Conference standings. The Lakers have to make the conference finals and even go up in the playoffs. If this doesn’t happen, Ham will be the first to go just like Vogel did. The Lakers fired him two years after winning a title.

“The championship-or-bust scale used to evaluate LeBron James-led teams leaves zero margin for error,” Buckley wrote. “Just ask James’ previous skipper with the Purple and Gold, Frank Vogel, who delivered a title run in 2020 and was ousted from his gig less than two years later.”

Ham could be fired after the postseason

The Lakers have to do wonders in the play-in tournament and beat their opponents in the playoffs. Ham’s current situation with the Lakers doesn’t look good right now.

“If L.A. fizzles out in the first round or even worse can’t make it out of the play-in tournament, Ham could wind up back on the chopping block.”

LeBron James joined the Lakers to help them win a title and won just one since joining the franchise. He and his teammate don’t seem to be talking the same language as Ham and this could be a deal-breaker for the Lakers head coach. Let’s see what happens in a few weeks. The Lakers have three games remaining on their schedule.
