Patriots Players Gave Head Coach Bill Belichick Brutal Report Card

Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots parted ways after two decades and six Super Bowl wins. Belichick left the team after another disappointing season and players slammed him with a terrible report card. It seems like things weren’t that great inside the Patriots locker room.

The NFLPA report card suggests that Belichick ranked 27th among NFL head coaches with a B-. According to Doug Kyed from the Boston Herald, “only 55% of players feel that former head coach Bill Belichick was efficient with their time (31st overall).” There’s more. “The players feel that Bill Belichick was rarely willing to listen to the locker room (31st overall).”

These rankings show that Belichick didn’t have the best relationship with players. Belichick is the best to ever coach the game, but following the same pattern for over two decades wasn’t an ideal option.

Belichick has yet to react to the awful card report

The Patriots couldn’t get out of their misery for a few seasons. Mac Jones seemed like a decent successor to Tom Brady, but it didn’t happen. The promising rookie turned into a frustrated player. Everything points to the fact that Jones will not be playing at center in 2024.

The Patriots let Belichick go and gave Jerod Mayo a chance to fix the situation. He promised to make big changes and has already released some of Belichick’s favorite players. His recent acts may be interpreted as a vile shot at Belichick. Well, no, Mayo has great respect for the legendary head coach.

“Bill (Belichick) did a great job for a long period of time. I don’t want you guys to take this, just because we’re changing, as shots toward the previous regime. In saying that, we will do it differently, and it’ll feel different.”

Eliot Wolf said that the team has also adjusted the grading system. “It’ll be less role specific like the old system and more value based,” said Evan Lazar from Patriots.com.

It’s a completely different approach and younger players will have a chance to show off.

“There’s just going to be a little bit more reliance on playing young players. I think it’s really important in today’s football to be able to play young players and develop from within,”
