The NBA Releases Statement On Trump’s LeBron Comments

LeBron James was called ‘stupid,’ and Adam Silver isn’t buying any of it.

President Donald Trump called the NBA star ‘stupid,’ and the NBA Commissioner Adam Silver stepped forward with a brilliant message. He defended LeBron after the malignant Tweet from Trump.

“Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!” Trump tweeted.

This was a rather insulting comment, and Silver knew that something has to be done. It’s interesting to note that the President made this comment right after LeBron opened the academy in his hometown.

“LeBron is one of the all-time greatest NBA players and one of the most accomplished athletes. He runs a very successful media company. He’s sent hundreds of students to college and just opened a school in Akron where at-risk students will receive free tuition, meals, and transportation. I greatly admire his intelligence and business acumen and have enormous respect and admiration for what he does in his community,” the NBA Commissioner said.

LeBron James had a sit-down interview with CNN’s Don Lemon, and used the opportunity to say that he’d never “sit across” from the sitting president of the United States. He even added that the President is using athletes and sports in general to divide people.

“We’re in a position right now in America where this whole race thing is taking over. One, because I believe our president is trying to divide us. He’s dividing us, and what I’ve noticed over the last few months is that he’s kind of used sport to kind of divide us,” King James said.

“That’s something that I can’t relate to, because I know that sport was the first time I ever was around someone white. I got an opportunity to see them and learn about them, and they got an opportunity to learn about me, and we became very good friends. I was like this is all because of sports. And sports has never been something that divided people. It’s always been something that brings someone together… At times… more often than not, I believe he uses anything that’s popular to try and negate people from the positive things they could be doing. At the end of the day sport is why we all come together,” the NBA star added.
