Report: Patriots Are Interested In Two Receivers

The New England Patriots have a great offense at the moment, but they are still looking for top wide receivers on the trade market.

The team will have to make a final decision until the Tuesday’s deadline, and experts have come up with a few ideas regarding the Patriots’ targets. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network said that New England is interesting in Golden Tate of the Detroit Lions and Demaryius Thomas of the Denver Broncos.

Thomas played with one of the Patriots’ greatest rivals, but a Patriots coach actually put him there. Josh McDaniels drafted Thomas in 2010 and turned him into a top receiver. McDaniels knew what he was doing, and the arrival of Thomas changed everything. He made Pro Bowls and won Super Bowl 50. Thomas defeated the Patriots twice in the postseason, so yes, Bill Belichick knows pretty much everything about him.

Matt Patricia coaches Tate and the Lions. He was once the defensive coordinator for the Patriots and won two Super Bowl while doing that job. He is now in Detroit, trying to construct a strong defense and running game. Tate will become free agent after the season, but Patricia does not really count on him as he has Marvin Jones and Kenny Golladay.

New England does not really need a receiver at the moment. Julian Edelman returned from his four-game suspension, and the team acquired Josh Gordon a month ago. Chris Hogan is there, too. Rob Gronkowski pairs well with Sony Michel, and James White contributes each game.

The Patriots have a strong offense, and these players actually helped in defeating the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs.
The team is probably trying alternatives, and they will sure follow the current development in the league. Adding Thomas or Tate may be a good idea, but the Patriots need defenders at the moment.
