Tom Brady Makes Bold Revelation About Ditching His New Helmet

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is making headlines with his helmet again.

The quarterback really loves his old Riddell VSR-4 helmet, and we saw him wearing it in the game against the New York Jets. Now Brady said that the change is “for the foreseeable future.” ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported.

“For those who noticed Tom Brady going back to his old helmet on Sunday, I asked him about it today and it sounds like he plans to stick with it for the foreseeable future. This is the last season he is allowed to wear it. Ultimately, he’s just most comfortable in the old helmet,” Reiss tweeted.

Tom Brady is one of the few NFL players who will have to change their head gear by the start of the new season. The league banned 10 styles after the laboratory research testing for impact severity. Players will be able to wear their helmets this season, but Brady has already done some experiments. He tried the Riddell Precision Fit SpeedFlex model, and seems to like it. Brady wore the approved model in the preseason and most of the regular season.

In the preseason, Brady said he was resistant to the changed, and he really wanted to adjust the facemask of his new helmet. “You’ve seen something a certain way for a long period of time, so I like as much vision as possible with the peripheral vision. It’s all important — it all matters — so, yeah, just making sure it’s kind of similar to what the experience has always been,” Brady said.

“Hopefully, the helmet provides more protection. I’ve been wearing a very old helmet for a long period of time, but it’s worked pretty well, too, so that’s why I haven’t been — I’ve been a little hesitant to change,” the quarterback said on Wednesday.

Does this mean that Brady will stay here for a while?
