Patriots Injuries Leaving Tom Brady Looking For Help

The New England Patriots do not really have too many injured players. However, the team has a serious problem, because the only injured players are those who protect Tom Brady.

Left tackle Trent Brown, right guard Shaq Mason, tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Jacob Hollister, running back Sony Michel, and linebacker Dont’a Hightower were added to the injury report right before the game against the Tennessee Titans. Mason and Gronk missed the contest, leaving Brown, Hollister, Michel and Hightower to play. Brown, wide receiver Julian Edelman and tight end Dwayne Allen had to leave the game due to injuries. We did not notice Allen at the Wednesday’s practice, and he will miss a few weeks due to a knee injury. Yes, Tom Brady does not really have someone to rely on.

Brady could really use some help throughout the game. “We just haven’t had that, I would say, overall consistency and the ability to practice together — which, that’s not an excuse. I mean, every team goes through that. A lot of teams deal with injuries and moving parts and bringing different people in,” the quarterback said on Wednesday.

Brady is not playing his best football at the moment, and he is the fifth-best protected quarterback in the regular season. He had a poor game against the Titans as he really missed Mason and Brown.

“We’ve definitely noticed some of the things that we’re getting on early downs, on third down, in the red area, in two-minute and long-yardage and short-yardage. There’s definite trends that we’ve seen . . . And then the next week that trend continues and then the next week that trend continues again, so now you’re seeing coordinators maybe either copying or getting ideas from previous games, or maybe it’s talking to other coordinators who have played us to kind of get their sense,” Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said.
