Chargers Win Over Chiefs Opens Major Door For Patriots With No. 1 Seed

Patriots’ hopes grew higher as the Chargers took down the Chiefs with their thrilling win on Thursday Night Football. Yes, the No. 1 seed is still out there, waiting for the New England Patriots. Well, they will sure need some help to achieve that.

The Patriots can win the AFC East this Sunday and earn that spot in the playoffs with a potential win or tie against the Steelers and a Miami Dolphins loss. This puts them in the playoffs, and the only thing they own at the moment is the No. 2 seed.  Head coach Bill Belichick and his guys will definitely try to go even higher in the AFC ranking.

The Patriots and Texans have three games to go, and there are a couple more for the 11-3 Chargers and Chiefs. This is actually a four-team race for the top position in the conference.

The Chargers and Chiefs have similar records after Thursday night’s contest. However, K.C. still owns the No. 1 seed at this point of the season because of their great record in the AFC West. There is actually some good news for the Patriots. They have tiebreakers over the Texans and Chiefs due to the head-to-head victories in the season. If they play with the same record, things will definitely develop in the Patriots’ favor.

If the teams win their remaining match of the year, the AFC playoffs will look pretty much the same as they look today. The Chiefs are at the No. 1 seed, the Patriots are at No. 2, Houston is at No. 3, and Los Angeles can fall to the No. 5 spot. This could ensure the first round bye for New England.

If New England win out and both the Chiefs and Chargers lose one of their remaining games, they will earn the prime spot to defeat both clubs for the top position in the conference.
