Patrick Mahomes Reveals What Tom Brady Said To Him After AFC Championship

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady did not say much about his encounter with Patrick Mahomes after the Patriots’ win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

The good news is that Patrick Mahomes decided to talk about it. He shared a couple of details during his appearance on NFL Live Wednesday.

Everyone was so surprised to learn that Brady went to the Kansas City locker room and asked the security guard if he could talk to Mahomes. ESPN analyst and former Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi asked Mahomes about the encounter, asking if it was a meeting of mutual respect or if it was an encouragement.

Patrick Mahomes shares details

“I think it was a little bit of both,” Mahomes said. “It was such a great game with so many emotions where it was going back and forth at the end. I feel like he just came up to me and was kind saying, ‘Good game,’ and everything like that. I mean, he was in my place (earlier in his career). He was young. He got to win the Super Bowl in his first year with you (Bruschi) and everybody, so he understands that time, it flies by, just make sure I put in the work, and I think he saw that I put in the work to be in those situations.”

Brady and the Patriots defeated Mahomes and his team twice this season. When asked about this encounter, the Patriots quarterback kept all the details for himself.

“I just went and saw him,” Brady told King. “I mean, he’s feeling like you think he’d feel when you lose a game like this. It hurts. He’s a hell of a … I mean, what a great young player. So impressed with his poise, his leadership. He is spectacular.”

Mahomes will go back to his home state to begin his offseason training.

“I think it’s just everybody getting better,” Mahomes said. “It’s not just the defense, it’s as a whole team. You saw that last game with the Patriots, the offense, we didn’t come out and play well in the first half. It’s a team game – you have to play off of each other, and I felt like that kind of set the tempo for the entire game. We battled back at the end – that’s what we did the whole entire season, we always fought until the end – but when you put yourself in the hole like that. That’s stuff that as a whole team we’ve got to progress and get better.”
