Watch: Mic’d Up Bill Belichick Shows Rare Emotions During Super Bowl LIII

You do not always see Bill Belichick being overwhelmed with emotions. However, he could not stay calm after his players won the sixth Super Bowl.

Bill Belichick was too excited to see Tom Brady kneeling down to run out the final five seconds on the clock.

“We’re champions!’’ he said. “We’re champs, man, we’re champs.’’

The head coach went on hugging Josh McDaniels and other assistant coaches. That’s when the huge surprise hit him. He was doused in Gatorade! His daughter, Amanda, and his longtime girlfriend, Linda Holliday, hugged the head coach to congratulate him on the big win.

Julian Edelman passed the three-year-old Blakely to Belichick, and said, “Grandpa! Er… Coach.”

The Los Angeles Rams tied the score at three apiece midway in the third quarter, the teams exchanged punts before running back Sony Michel punched the ball in to score the only touchdown. With seven minutes left, Belichick talked to the defense.

Bill Belichick fired the defense

“OK, look, we got maybe 15 calls left in this game,’’ he told de facto defensive coordinator Brian Flores. “Let’s go through and get ’em right here. Let’s just know what we’re going to call here and make sure we got the right personnel in the game and we know what we’re doing.’’

“We don’t have much time left here now,’’ he then talked to the ends. “We got to get it right. Let’s make sure we’re straight on the doubles. Let’s make sure we’re straight on the calls, OK? They really can’t beat us, we just can’t screw it up now. If we’re on it, they don’t got anything. Let’s make sure we get it right.’’

The rest is history. The New England Patriots won the Super Bowl and had their parade in Boston. They can have some rest at the moment, and then get ready for the next season.
