Tom Brady Reacts To Jamie Collins’ Return With Patriots

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has reunited with two of his former teammates, and linebacker Jamie Collins is the next on this list.

A week after the Patriots brought Benjamin Watson out of retirement, the team started the talks with Jamie Collins. There were rumors suggesting that the New England will sign the veteran linebacker. Patriots players couldn’t hide their excitement over Collins’ contract with the team. Dont’a Hightower was among the first to react. He did it in March right after the Cleveland Browns cut Collins.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady commented on the Instagram post regarding Collins’ signing. He wrote, “Hell yeah!”

We don’t have much information regarding his role and the possibility that he ends up joining the 53-man roster. The Patriots will sure use him to add depth at inside linebacker and pass rush. The 29-year-old is fit for this role, and his experience should be enough to fill in the voids. Collins is familiar with the organization and the way Patriots play, so he will definitely impact the team.

The Patriots drafted Collins in the secod-round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Southern Miss. The linebacker played three and a half seasons with the Pats and had a big role in the linebacker unit. He was a Pro Bowler in 2015, and joined the team in their effort to win Super Bowl XLIX.

During his time with the Patriots, the linebacker totaled 326 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 10 forced fumbles and five interceptions. In the postseason, Collins added 50 tackles to go along with three sacks, eight quarterback hits and two interceptions.

The Patriots traded Collins in 2016 to the Cleveland Browns. The linebacker was part of the Browns family until this offseason. He was brilliant in 2018, and finished his best season with 104 tackles, four sacks, a forced fumble, interception and four passes defended.

The Browns had to cut Collins as they needed some extra cap space. Collins was scheduled to get $11.75 million next season and $13.75 in the final year of the four-year $50 million contract.

Collins is already set to join the Patriots on the field Thursday.
