Report: Markieff Morris Denies ‘Crazy’ Rumor About Marcus, LeBron, Rich Paul, Clippers

Detroit Pistons forward Markieff Morris decided to put an end to rumors related to LeBron James and Rich Paul.

Morris said that the Lakers star and his agent had nothing to do with the deal his twin brother, Marcus Morris, was supposed to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Ben Maller of Fox Sports reported on the case.

“We’re told that Marcus Morris and the people around him are incensed because of the agent (Rich Paul). They were clearly upset with Rich Paul enough to fire him because Rich Paul rejected a much bigger offer from the Los Angeles Clippers. Morris was offered a $41 million deal by the Clippers…the internet investigative arm has determined that the reason that Morris didn’t sign with the Clippers was more about the underhanded work of LeBron James’ henchmen.”

Markieff didn’t do anything but laugh at the rumors.

“Richie P told Mook to do what? These stories be crazy! Rich would never tell mook not to go to La because of LeBron!! Stories be crazy..” he wrote on Twitter.

Marcus reneged on a two-year deal worth $20 million with the San Antonio Spurs to ink a one-year deal worth $15 million with the New York Knicks. Morris stopped working with Paul and Klutch Sports Group.

Stegan Bondy of the New York Daily News wrote that Morris and his squad turned down an offer from the Los Angeles Clippers. The offer included a three-year deal worth $41 million. This happened before Morris agreed to his contract with the Knicks.

The Clippers pulled back their order, and signed forward Maurice Harkless from the Portland Trail Blazers through a four-team trade.

The 2018-19 season was one of Morris’ best seasons in the league with the Boston Celtics. The 29-year-old averaged 13.9 points and 6.1 rebounds while shooting 44.7 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from beyond the arc.

Morris would have been an excellent addition to the Clippers. They got Kawhi Leonard and traded for Paul George this offseason. Morris was a nice fit for one of the best defensive teams, and he would have been able to compete with the Los Angeles Lakers.
