Watch: LeBron James Takes Student On Shopping Spree For School

Los Angeles Lakers players Rajon Rondo and LeBron James decided to do something really great for the community. LeBron is the basketball player best known for his charitable work. He opened the I Promise School with the only goal to help at-risk youth get a better education. In a recent video on the “Uninterrupted” media network, LeBron showed how he uses his massive platform to seal partnerships that benefit the school. One little girl got lucky. Yes, there was a shopping spree and all!

Rajon Rondo did his thing, too. He liked the idea Syracuse police officer Brandon Hanks had, and turned it into something bigger. Hanks challenged kids to score on him. What’s the prize? A new pair of shoes for their scores. If the kids couldn’t score, they had to do pushups. So, Rondo’s foundation donated 25 pairs of shoes to the challenge.

“The foundation of Los Angeles Lakers point guard Rajon Rondo has donated 25 pairs of sneakers to a Syracuse police officer’s basketball challenge. Officer Brandon Hanks gained national attention last week after a video of Hanks playing pick-up basketball against kids in Syracuse went viral on Facebook.

“’We are always willing to provide support to people who are willing to use their time, talent and treasure to make this world a better place,’ Rondo’s foundation said. ‘One game, one chat, one day at a time.

“Hanks, who is in his second year as an officer, started playing against kids several months ago to build relationships in the Eastwood neighborhood he patrols.

“Approximately three weeks ago, Hanks began offering a challenge. If Hanks’ opponent scored first against him, his opponent won a pair of shoes, courtesy of Hanks. If Hanks scores first, the opponent owes Hanks 20 push-ups.

“A video of the challenge picked up more than 38,000 views on Hanks’ personal Facebook page. CBS featured Hanks on its nightly news. Syracuse.com | The Post-Standard wrote about the officer’s challenge.”

It may look like a small gesture, but it’s definitely big for the kids. Rondo was beaten once, and we all know how expensive sneakers are. Rondo did a good job to help him.
