Bills Safety Slams Josh Allen Hit…’If we did that to Brady, there’s now way we’d continue to play’

Bills starting quarterback Josh Allen took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Patriots quarterback Jonathan Jones. He left the game with a concussion, and Jones wasn’t ejected. Bills safety Micah Hyde wasn’t happy with this, and he says NFL officials should have ejected Jones.

“The first thing that came out of my mouth on the sideline (was) ‘If one of us had did that to 12 (Tom Brady), we wouldn’t have been in the game anymore.'” Hyde said, via Matt Parrino of NYup.com. “There’s no way we would continue to play in that game.”

Allen was tackled by Patriots defensive back Duron Harmon, Jones hit Allen as he went down to the ground.

“There’s no room in football for that,” said Bills head coach Sean McDermott. “It’s a shame to see a player like Josh, or any player for that matter, go down on a hit like that.

“I asked for an explanation. I thought he should have been thrown out. Other than that, I am not going to get into that at all. That is for the league to get into.”

Jones was flagged for unnecessary roughness. “Obviously that’s our quarterback and we ride or die with him,” Hyde said. “To see that happen – Josh didn’t slide, but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter if that’s a running back you can’t (hit someone) head-to-head.”

NFL Senior Vice President of Officiating Al Riveron reviewed the play in the NFL’s New York office.

“Well, we looked at it and in this situation, we didn’t feel that that contact rose to the level of an ejection,” Riveron told Bills pools reporter Vic Carucci. “The player (Allen) actually turns. Obviously, there is helmet contact, but we have standards for an ejection, and this did not rise to that standard; therefore, we did not eject him. There was a foul called and obviously the penalty stood, but we did not feel this contact rose to that level.”

The Bills won’t let this go on its own, and they will keep talking about this. Well, the NFL made a decision, and that’s pretty much it.
