LeBron Names 3 Lakers Players That Have Stood Out Most So Far

LeBron James and Anthony Davis were really successful in training camp. LeBron had the chance to check up on his new teammates, and he praised three Lakers players who had stood out the most.

“I thought Dwight and JaVale have been very good, if not great since practice started. I love what they’re able to do … and Avery (Bradley) continues to stand out obviously, just with his defensive tenacity.”

Howard and Bradley will be called upon to augment their positions because they possess some skills that may be of great help for the team. Bradley will be required to hit open 3-pointers and handle the ball at some point of the game. He is also expected to be a point-of-attack defender who will attack opposing point guards as they take the ball upcourt and start off their halfcourt offense.

When it comes to Bradley, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel said he was a breakout star in camp who has stolen the spotlight from LeBron and Davis.

“We’ve got two of the best players in the world competing together and all anybody’s talking about is Avery Bradley‘s tenaciousness,” Vogel said. “That speaks volumes about what he’s been able to show in the first couple of days.

“Just being in the face of whoever has the basketball. It’s become very clear that coaching against him, [we’d] say, ‘Don’t dribble the ball. If Avery’s on you, pass the ball. Just give it up.’ Because you’re not going anywhere with a bounce with Avery Bradley on you.

“He’s shooting the ball well offensively, too. Talk about his tenaciousness, he’s really shooting — not just corner 3, the arc 3. Shot at a high level in Memphis last year, has really grown that throughout his career.”

Howard was signed in August right after DeMarcus Cousins suffered his terrible ACL injury. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year will defend the rim, grab rebounds, run the floor offensively and defensively, and be a scoring threat. He is 265 pounds which means the Lakers could use his potential to check wide-bodied centers. Howard and McGee will compete for the starting center position.
