Report: LeBron And Davis To Play Vs. Warriors In First Preseason Game

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are playing the Golden State Warriors in the preseason opener. Anthony Davis will be there, too. The big game will be played on Saturday night.

In Friday’s practice, LeBron played point guard and Davis was center.

The former Pelican told Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times that he would love to play the 4 rather than the 5.

“’I like playing the four,’ Davis said, referring to power forward. ‘I’m not even going to sugarcoat it. I like playing the four. I don’t really like playing the five.’

“He turned toward Vogel, smiled and put his hand on Vogel’s shoulder,” Tania Ganguli wrote.

“’If it comes down to it, coach, and you need me to play the five, then I’ll play the five.’”

The Lakers are trying out different options, and we don’t really know how will the team fix the schedule.

“We have so many different lineup packages that we can probably go to throughout the course of the season,” LeBron said, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “So we’re just trying out a few things now in practice—going with smaller lineups, going with bigger lineups, going with quicker lineups, going with slower lineups. But that’s the luxury of having our personnel—we have the ability to do multiple things. So that’s what practice is all about, being able to work on those things.”

LeBron said that he doesn’t want to be labeled a point guard but rather “a ballplayer” doing “whatever it takes to win.”

Veteran point guard Rajon Rondo works on his role on the floor. Head coach Frank Vogel said that it will be “important that we stagger the two.”

LeBron will try to lead the team to the playoffs for the first time since the 2012-13 season.

“I’m very motivated,” he told Mike Trudell of the team’s official website. “But I’m right now not in talking-about-it mode. I’ve been very quiet this summer for a reason. My mother always told me: ‘Don’t talk about it. Be about it.'”

Let’s see what happens in the first preseason game. Who is winning this one?
