Two-Time Super Bowl Champion Calls Out Belichick’s ‘Moral Character’

Head coach Bill Belichick approaches Don Shula’s record for wins as an NFL head coach. For most NFL players, Belichick is the GOAT of all coaches. However, there are still people who question his moral character.

Hal Habib of The Palm Beach Post is one of them. In a column published this week, Habib argued that the Patriots head coach will never have the same class as Shula in terms of legacy and integrity. He listed the Patriots’ controversies that took place during the Belichick era. Yes, he was referring to Spygate and Deflategate. According to him, the Miami Dolphins have never been involved in anything similar during the time of Shula.

Winning is the only thing, we’ve been conditioned to believe, which would mean that to couple 348 wins by Belichick with his six Super Bowl rings is to squelch any argument in favor of Shula being the best ever,” Habib wrote. “But argue, I must. Argue, I will. Argue, I do, in the name of integrity. Honesty. Valor. Class.”

Habib sure did his best to represent Belichick in dark colors. This leads us to several quotes from former Dolphins players including two-time Super Bowl champion Manny Fernandez. The champion called out Belichick when comparing him to Shula. Fernandez played eight seasons with Miami from 1968 to 1975.

“You can’t stop it,” Fernandez told Habib. “I just think it’s a shame that a guy who constantly gets caught cheating is even there because — I don’t know — (Belichick’s) moral character leaves me kind of questioning.”

Shula was the Dolphins’ coach during Miami’s undefeated 1972 season. He finished his career with 347 wins between the regular season and playoffs. The Patriots head coach enters Sunday’s matchup between New England and Miami with 304. He had most of these wins with the Patriots.

It’s only a matter of time before Belichick passes Schula on the all-time list. Well, he knows that haters are jealous. Belichick is well aware of his power on the field. He is incredible, and the Patriots will need this power to keep winning games. New England is off to another Super Bowl team.
