Report: Robert Kraft Willing To Go Where He’s Never Gone Before To Keep Tom Brady

Tom Brady has helped the New England Patriots win six Super Bowls. The team failed to win another championship this season, but it wasn’t Brady’s fault. Head coach Bill Belichick should have surrounded him with talented weapons. Well, the season is over, and New England is getting ready for the offseason. This brings us to Brady and his contract situation with the team. Brady may become a free agent for the first time in his career. What will team owner Robert Kraft do to keep Tom Brady in New England? It will be tricky, but it looks like Kraft is ready to do the impossible to keep his star quarterback at Gillette Stadium.

Head coach Belichick makes the most important football decisions, but Ian Rapoport from NFL Network reported that the owner may involve in the process this time.

Rapoport noted that the Patriots will pay “in excess of $30 million” to keep the star quarterback in New England. During an appearance on WEEI’s Dale and Keefe Show, he revealed that Kraft has something to do with this.

Robert Kraft wants Tom Brady on the roster

It’s more than obvious that team owners make such great decisions. Kraft writes the checks, so he will make a decision about Brady’s salary. Brady accepted less money to help the team sign other players. Now he is waiting for his paycheck. Kraft better be generous, otherwise, he may lose the GOAT.

“To me, the owner makes decisions like this,” Rapoport said. “From my understanding, the Patriots ownership, who writes the checks, is willing to pay Brady more than $30 million… This is not a situation where they’re gonna go, all right the most we paid you is $22.5 million or whatever it is, we’re sticking to that. This is something where they want Tom Brady to return, they think they can get him back, and they’re willing to go where they have not gone to do it.”

Rapoport also said that Belichick probably agrees with Kraft on this one. The Patriots have yet to confirm this information, but we have every right to think that way.

New England has a little over $45 million in cap space. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Belichick may not like the idea of giving Brady $30 million.

Brady may not be interested in that much money. His wife, Gisele Bundchen, brings the bacon to their home, remember? This is a long offseason for the Patriots, and they better give Brady what he deserves for his efforts on the field. He is the GOAT. They would be crazy to lose the GOAT in free agency. But, Brady is open-minded about his contract thing.
