Los Angeles Reportedly Gives Lakers Clearance To Open Practice Facility

There’s some good news for the Los Angeles Lakers. The team will be able to open their practice facility on Saturday. They got clearance from the city and county officials as confirmed in a report by Shams Charania. Lakers players are ready to hit the practice facility.

The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday that the county was “with all certainty” ready to extend the stay-at-home order through July. The team talked to the city mayor’s office, because they wanted to reopen the facility.

The NBA had May 8 as an official reopen day for team facilities. However, only a few teams will be able to reopen their facility.

Lakers players to hit practice facility

Some state and local governments have started to ease the restrictions on non-essential businesses in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. The league has worked with teams to make their facilities available for use. In this way, players will be able to have their workouts.

Under the league’s new rules, only four players would be allowed to enter the a facility at any one time. Head or assistant coaches can’t attend the practice. The same applies to group activities like practices or scrimmages. NBA players will not be able to use non-team facilities. This includes public health clubs, fitness centers, or gyms.

LA is taking big steps to protect players. ESPN reported that the Lakers have worked on creating a workout schedule with players. They have also created plans to provide a facility hygiene officer who will supervise daily cleaning and sterilizing of the facility. Players will have their temperature measured while they are in their cars. All players and staff will wear personal protective equipment. Each player will have a 90-minute workout time sloth. The food won’t be served in a buffet.

Two Lakers players tested positive for the virus. We don’t know the names, but they are fine now.

The NBA has yet to make a decision on the resumption of the regular season. Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell were the first NBA players to test positive for COVID-19. This forced officials to suspend the season. Las Vegas and Orlando are viewed as potential options for the resumption of the season.
