Report: LeBron James and Other Players Turn to Barack Obama For Advice

LeBron James and other NBA players recently looked at former President Barack Obama for advice. The NBA and its players decided to boycott their playoff games for the last few days which has caused widespread reactions. Some were in full support while others were very angry. But that is kind of how protests work, most would say.

Apparently, however, the players were not sure if this was the best way to get their point across. This is one reason why they reached out to Barack Obama for advice.

Shams Charania broke the news:

Report: LeBron James and Other Players Turn to Barack Obama For Advice

“Former President Barack Obama spoke to James, National Basketball Players Association president Chris Paul and a small group of players late Wednesday evening, advising them to play and utilize the opportunity to contextualize action they want in order to play, The Athletic has learned.”

This is pretty big news and could be the main reason they decided to continue playing. LeBron James has previously given his opinions on what is going on in the United States today. He talked about it when asked after the first game back in the bubble.

He talked about BLM being much more than a movement.

“A lot of people kind of use this analogy, talking about Black Lives Matter as a movement. It’s not a movement,” James said. “When you’re Black, it’s not a movement. It’s a lifestyle. We sit here and say it’s a movement, and, OK, how long is this movement going to last? ‘Don’t stop the movement.’ No, this is a walk of life. When you wake up and you’re Black, that is what it is. It shouldn’t be a movement. It should be a lifestyle. This is who we are…”

“I don’t like the word ‘movement’ because, unfortunately, in America and in society, there ain’t been no damn movement for us. There ain’t been no movement.”

“I mean, is that what we need to see, a video of Breonna being killed to realize how bad the situation is?” James went on.

This is a huge problem and it needs to change. Hopefully their voices can bring some justice to those who do not have a voice.
