Cam Newton’s Initial Reaction to Patriots Releasing Mohamed Sanu

Earlier this week, the New England Patriots announced that veteran wide receiver Mohamed Sanu would be released. The Patriots are definitely making lots of moves this off season. They want to have a much better season than they did last year. The 2019 season did not go very well for the Patriots or their fans. It was especially on the offense that the team struggled to get things done.

Because of this, the are trying to fill the holes that were so notable last season. One of those holes was left after the season. Tom Brady, who played for the Patriots for 20 years, left for Tampa Bay. As a result, the Patriots signed former NFL MVP and college super star Cam Newton.

Newton has been making waves in the Patriots organization since he came to Foxborough. Apparently, is quite a hard worker. At least, that is what head coach Bill Belichick has said.

Cam Newton’s Initial Reaction to Patriots Releasing Mohamed Sanu

“Cam’s a hard-working kid. He really is. He’s worked very hard, I’d say, as all of our players have.

“I’d say that certainly for all the quarterbacks, at that position, those guys have been locked in, focused and confident in what they’re able to do and the information they have to give to the team — play-calling, adjustments, audibles, protection adjustments, things like that. That’s all going pretty well.”

But now, Newton has seen his first release and it was pretty surprising to him.

“Mo, he was really the first person that made himself available when I signed here,” Newton said after practice on Friday. “And (seeing he’d been cut) was tough for me, because I don’t actually read into football stuff when I’m at home (or) heading home, because it’s just something that we do all day long. And obviously, with this schedule, it’s around the clock anyway. So when my cousin told me (Sanu was released), it just struck (me). I thought he was playing.”

It sounds like he was pretty shocked by this release. It was for a lot of people, it seems. Many people thought that Sanu would be a big part of the Patriot’s offense.

What do you think about his reaction?
