Kevin Love Speaks Out on Lakers’ LeBron James Losing MVP to Giannis Antetokounmpo

Cleveland Cavaliers superstar Kevin Love shared his take on LeBron James and the NBA MVP award. Milwaukee Bucks young star Giannis Antetokounmpo won the award, and LeBron got very few votes. LeBron and Love won the 2016 championship together.

Love doesn’t mind seeing Antetokounmpo winning the 2020 NBA MVP Award. But he would definitely love to see LeBron win more votes. Why did LeBron get just 16 first-place votes?

“He’s like, ‘I probably wouldn’t have won it. But I deserve more first place votes,’ which I believe is true,” Love said of LeBron.

“And I think a lot of people would agree with that. Giannis, OK, he won the MVP for sure. Yeah. But I don’t think anybody’s debating that, but he deserved more first-place votes. But he, almost like Jordan The Last Dance. I watched it again when I got back here. I had the seven days (of quarantine). And he was like, anything that he could reach out and be like, ‘OK, I’m going to use that and be pissed off.’ And Bron even said he’s pissed off. So he’ll just use that as your motivation. And Bron never needs more motivation. But he finds a way to spring that out as much as he can.”

Kevin Love makes a point on LeBron and the MVP award

Giannis won his second MVP award in 2020. He is the third player in league history to win MVP and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season.

The Bucks had a really good game this season and this gave Giannis a chance to win the award. Giannis led the NBA in PER while averaging 29.6 points, 13.7 rebounds and 5.8 assists before the suspension in March. The NBA voting was focused on the games prior to the coronavirus pandemic.

LeBron definitely deserves more than 16 votes. We can definitely see this as a motivation. He will use it to go against Denver. LeBron and LA are a win away from making the NBA Finals. If they win the Western Conference Finals, the Lakers will play against the winner of the series between Miami Heat and Boston Celtics.
