This Old Bill Belichick Nickname Is Perfect For Patriots Head Coach

There is a nickname that might just be perfect for New England Patriot’s head coach Bill Belichick. The Patriots have been very busy this off season. They have signed lots of different pieces in order to try to get back on track in 2020. The 2019 season, however, is a totally different story. The Patriots did not look very good last season. Nobody was able to get much of anything done at all. Even Tom Brady, who is one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, failed to look very good at all.

But they are looking to get back on track in a huge way. With the recent signing of Cam Newton, the Patriots are hoping they can look much better on the offensive side of the ball. Belichick recently talked about Cam Newton and what he has seen so far.

“I can see why he had the kind of success he had at Auburn and Carolina,” Belichick said.. “Talking to people who were with him there, the things they said about him at Auburn and at Carolina from a decade ago or two to three years ago or even last year, it’s all the same and it showed up here. He’s an extremely hard worker. Nobody works harder than Cam does. He’s here early, he stays late, and he works very hard.”

Maybe that is why he used to have such an interesting nickname.

Apparently, Bill Parcels used to call Belichick the name “doom.” That seems to fit pretty perfectly.

“We used to call him Doom because every time he walked around it was the end of the world,” former Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor said. “‘Ah, you didn’t make this play.’ ‘Ah, you didn’t go over here.’ It was the end of the world.”

That is pretty funny stuff. It seems to fit the coach perfectly. Especially after what we heard about him recently. Apparently he likes to prepare for things that most coaches would completely overlook.

“Looking at the negative side and preparing for the negative has made him a better football coach, because he prepares for all of the things that can go bad,” Patriots defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel said. “And to tell you the truth, I think he kind of halfway liked the idea that people were calling him Doom because that way, he didn’t have to be nice to anybody.”
