Report: JR Smith Drops His $150,000 Championship Ring

Los Angeles Lakers players got their rings for the great work they did inside the Orlando bubble. They took part in a special ring ceremony ahead of their season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers. JR Smith got his championship ring too. And then dropped it.

In a video featuring Smith and his rings, one of his daughters tried to remove one of the rings from his finger. However, his Lakers ring fell to the floor, and almost had a heart attack.

In Tuesday night’s opening-night game against Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers, LA held a ceremony before the game. Players had family members and friends congratulate them in videos as they tried on the rings.

Smith is no longer a Laker, and he didn’t attend the ring ceremony. Well, it doesn’t matter as he still got his championship ring worth $150,000.

The veteran won two titles in his long career. Smith got his first ring with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2015-16 season. LeBron James and Kyrie Irving were part of the team, too.  The team overcame a 3-1 deficit against the Golden State Warriors and ended up winning the NBA Finals.

The Los Angeles Lakers signed Smith this past summer to fill in the voids. He joined the championship team and helped players win the first title since Kobe Bryant’s era. The Lakers won the 17th title in team history and they are going after title No.18. LA won a title in honor of Kobe Bryant. It was the best tribute to the Black Mamba. Smith joined the team at the right time and now he will have to look for another home.

When it comes to the Lakers and their new season, the team opened it with a loss to their city rivals. Of course, this doesn’t mean a thing because LeBron’s team has too much talent on the roster. Rob Pelinka signed Dennis Schroder, Marc Gasol, Montrezl Harrell and a few other players to compete for another title. Winning back-to-back titles seems like a realistic scenario right now.
