Skip Bayless Takes Big Shot at Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers entered the regular season with a 2-2 record. This doesn’t fit any ideal scenario but we would all agree that this is just the beginning. There are several new players on the roster and they are now trying to build chemistry with LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Kyle Kuzma and the rest of the guys from the 2019-20 roster. Skip Bayless wasn’t really mild in his most recent analysis, and he took an awful shot at the Lakers.

Bayless criticized the Lakers following Monday’s loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

“Your team is not as good as it was last year,” Bayless told Shannon Sharpe. “The league gave you an opening gift. A welcome back gift. You had to come back early. They gave you four home games to start, and you went 2-2 in those home games.”

Los Angeles won the games against the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves. However, they did lost to their city rivals and failed to defeat the Portland Trail Blazers. Lakers head coach Frank Vogel is working with a group of new players. Some of them are still trying to flow with the Lakers system.

Bayless is convinced that the Lakers didn’t address one of the biggest issues from last offseason. According to him, they need a closer.

“We’re back to the issue that you had last year, and you got away with it because it didn’t confront you enough,” Bayless said. “That is, who is the closer for this team because I don’t see a closer.”

LeBron is the Lakers’ closer, but some experts don’t really see him as a clutch player. The four-time NBA champion is averaging 22.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game this season. His numbers are pretty fine, and staying healthy is a must right now.

LA will go against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night. Players need to win this game and prove Bayless wrong. He made a lot of awful comments about the franchise. LeBron and AD are here to make him change his mind. They really need to win their fifth game of the season.
