LeBron James And Lakers Elaborate on Physical And Mental Fatigue Catching Up to Them on The Road

The Los Angeles Lakers look really great in the 2020-21 NBA season. The reigning champions showed everyone that they are the best all-around franchise in the NBA. Lakers head coach Frank Vogel likes everything players do on the basketball court. Players performed well in the first half of the regular season. LeBron James and Anthony Davis will lead the team to another victory, and mental fatigue doesn’t seem to be a problem.

Los Angeles has the best squad in the league, but NBA analysts still mention all the issues that stem from mental fatigue.

LeBron led the team to the 17th NBA championship win in team history. They had a really short offseason. It’s interesting to note that the Lakers had just 72 days to rest and relax for the new season. This shortened offseason may have a huge impact on players. Let’s not forget that the Lakers lost two straight road games.

LeBron James speaks on mental fatigue

AD didn’t play Thursday night against the Detroit Pistons. The team was just coming off from a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Davis’ absence wasn’t the only reason players had to lose the game.

“Playing without Anthony, we were just looking to find a rhythm with combinations that are not used to being out there,” Lakers head coach Vogel said. “We just didn’t find it. We’ve been pretty good on the road, but tonight was definitely not our night.”

LA is finishing the seven-game road trip. Are players tired?

“It still is a mental toll,” Kyle Kuzma said following the loss to Detroit. “Everybody is locked away in their rooms. It’s still a pandemic out here. That’s not an excuse to lose at all, but just everyday human life. Yeah, for sure. It’s always going to be a mental toll.”

This won’t stop players. They want to win back-to-back titles and that’s the perfect motivation for every player. The Purple and Gold won’t stop here.

“There’s still work to be done,” LeBron said. “There’s games to be played, work to be done. We have to continue to get better and you can’t really get your mind into the grasp of how many days you’ve been on the road or whatever the case may be.

“Every team does it. Every team hits a long road trip. As professionals, we’ve got to keep our minds fresh, our bodies fresh as much as we can to go out there and put together a complete 48-minute game or as close to 48 minutes.”

NBA teams are tempting the Lakers, but players won’t give up without a good fight. What happened in the game against Boston? LA won. Simple as that.

LA is ready to win

LeBron is 36, but age has nothing on him. Here he is, playing his best basketball.

“I don’t get tired,” the four-time NBA champion said. “I don’t feel tired. Get my sleep, I get my rest. I have a lot of energy. I don’t really get tired and my mindset never gets to a point, ‘This is a long road trip. I’m exhausted, I’m tired.’ I don’t even think about that.

“We have our games, I’m ready to go. When we’re not playing, I have an opportunity to rest and get my body right. Get my mind refreshed, but I don’t get tired.”
