Emmitt Smith Reacts To The Cam Newton Trash Talk Video

New England Patriots veteran quarterback Cam Newton made headlines with his trash talk moment at the camp he held in Charlotte. It was awkward, and young football player, Jseth Owens, thought it would be nice to mock the Patriots quarterback, calling him, “free agent” and “poor.” Yes, he had the courage to mock the former No.1 pick and 2015 NFL MVP. Let’s not forget that Newton has earned over $100 million in his career. His endorsement deal only adds to the net worth.

It was wrong in every sense of the word. Current and former football players reacted to the video. Dez Bryant said Newton “should have sent his a** home.” A lot of people share the same opinion.

This leads us all the way to a different topic. Young generations have no respect for older people.

Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the incident.

“What happened to respecting your elders,” he responded to Bryant’s tweet. “I give Cam credit for keeping his cool with young fella. However, the amount of disrespect is at a all-time high and yes it does start at home.”

Cam took to Instagram to respond to the incident. He responded to the player and asked where his dad was. Newton wanted to talk to the boy’s father rather than go back-and-forth with the disrespectful teenager.

“What you didn’t see,” the Patriots quarterback wrote on Instagram. “I see there a lot of things festering out there that I see have took place over the weekend… To the natural eye you see me asking the young man ‘Where is your dad at?’ But to me, talking to a child with everyone looking does me no good! So instead of speaking or going back and forth with a child, I wanted to have a man to man conversation with his father!”

Owens apologize to Newton, but the damage was already done.

Hopefully, teenagers will learn their lesson and stop saying things like this in the future.
