New England Patriots Have Signed New Notable College Kicker

The New England Patriots added a new kicker to the current roster and things got really hot in Foxboro. He is not a “regular” kicker. College football fans know him well. Head coach Bill Belichick knows him well. The player has earned nothing but words of praise and the Patriots decided to bring him in.

New England announced the signing of the new kicker. He will probably become a fan favorite sooner than expected. We can already see his name in the biggest headlines. Belichick played rough this offseason and he also made some smart choices in the 2021 NFL Draft. This year’s group is much better than the players he worked with in 2020. The Patriots missed the playoffs last season and Belichick won’t go through the same failure again.

Patriots add new kicker to the roster for bigger depth

Former Michigan Wolverines kicker Quinn Nordin inked his new contract with the Patriots. The standout kicker took to Twitter to drop the big news. He shared a photo of him kicking overlaid with a Pats logo.

Of course, Nordin will have to wait before he takes a starting role with the Patriots. New England offered veteran kicker Nick Folk a new deal in the offseason. In other words, Belichick will make his players compete in training camp. One of them will get the top job.

Folk came in on a tryout with the team in 2019. He solidified a position that cost the Patriots well before he joined them. Folk connected on 14-of-17 field goals in the 2019 season. He earned the top job in 2020.

The veteran hit 26-of-28 field goals in 2020 and we have a few good reasons to believe that he will be Belichick’s starter in September.

New England also has former collegiate star and second-round selection Roberto Aguayo. He inked a futures contract with the Patriots in January. Belichick has a packed roster at the moment. Maybe Nordin will become a cheaper option for the Patriots than keeping Aguayo for the upcoming season.
