Patriots Star Could Be Dealt Before the Beginning of the Season

The New England Patriots may lose one particular star ahead of the 2021 NFL season. Stephon Gilmore has been making headlines for quite some time. The talented player has had a huge role with the team. Will head coach Bill Belichick let him go?

Bill Barnwell from ESPN says that Gilmore will be traded before the start of the regular season. This makes sense. Right?

Barnwell ranked the offseason of every team in the NFL. According to him, the Patriots stand at No.2. Of course, it doesn’t believe the team is without huge challenges. The cornerback position is unsettled, and Barnwell wouldn’t be shocked if the Patriots veteran “was dealt before the season began.”

“Stephon Gilmore and J.C. Jackson both will be unrestricted free agents in 2022. Gilmore was rumored to be in trade talks, although no deal ever transpired. The Patriots could work on extensions with either corner, although I wouldn’t be shocked if he was dealt before the season began. In the past, Belichick has dealt away Logan Mankins and Richard Seymour in the final few days before the season began. If the legendary coach gets a good offer for the former Defensive Player of the Year, Belichick could do the same with Gilmore.”

The Patriots star is coming off a bad season with the Patriots

Julio Jones is a 32-year-old wide receiver. Some would compare him to Gilmore.

Jones signed with the Tennessee Titans and Atlanta is getting a second and fourth-round selection. In other words, the Patriots will get similar reward for heavy.com/sports/new-england-patriots/stephon-gilmore-trade-training-camp/. Maybe they will get a second and a sixth pick. There are so many options for the team.

Gilmore has found himself in a rather unpleasant situation. The veteran would gladly have his contract redone and extended. He is 30 and has a history of injuries. It’s a risky situation, right?
